We are not talking about Fridays for Future activists, but about Morris Haid (18) and Florian Legermann (19). The two Ratingers, who have had a general enthusiasm for science since their school days, want to bring more sustainability into everyday life.

What started out as a student project has now grown into a company of its own: Solaregy. The two young entrepreneurs want to use photovoltaic cells on roller blinds and venetian blinds to harness the sunlight on the glass fronts of buildings to generate electricity. “Everyone knows that we live in a society that consumes too much energy. The crucial point is where our energy comes from,” says Morris. The familiar ways of generating electricity from coal are no longer compatible with climate change, he says. “With Solaregy we want to offer a proven alternative in an innovative environment”, says Florian, a passionate table tennis player in his spare time.
